چکیده

Abstract Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine–metabolic disorder due to genetic and environmental factors. Genetic variants located in intron 1 of Fat mass obesity-associated ( FTO ) gene are associated with increased risk obesity metabolic disorders. This study aims investigate the association polymorphism rs9939609 South Indian women PCOS assess its endocrine parameters. genotyping was done on 100 patients 70 controls by Sanger sequencing. Results The distribution observed between groups (28% TT, 57% TA, 15% AA for 37.1% 51.4% 11.4% controls). In group, across carriers different genotypes, significant found body index (BMI), fasting glucose levels, testosterone presence at least one allele rs9939609. Logistic regression analysis showed levels (OR 1.30 [1.03–1.63] OR 5.83 [1.61–21.11], respectively) Conclusions Our findings indicated that SNP not PCOS, but suggested hyperandrogenemia, BMI PCOS.

Common Variant rs9939609 in Gene FTO Confers Risk to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

BACKGROUND Fat mass and obesity-associated gene (FTO) has been associated with obesity, especially the common variant rs9939609. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine-metabolic disorder and over 50% of patients are overweight/obese. Thus FTO is a potential candidate gene for PCOS but their relationship is confusing and remains to be clarified in different population with a lar...

P-91: Androgen Associated Gene Polymorphism(s) in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome from South Indian Population

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder affecting 4-12% of reproductive women worldwide; characterized by chronic anovulation, clinical and/or biochemical hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound scan. Ovarian androgen overproduction is the key pathophysiologic feature of PCOS. A number of genes encoding major enzymes of the androgen meta...

Association of obesity and insulin resistance with dyslipidemia in Indian women with polycystic ovarian syndrome.

BACKGROUND Dyslipidemia, diabetes and obesity are all potent cardiovascular risk factors that tend to cluster in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Metabolic disorders in patients with PCOS cannot be explained solely by the presence of obesity. OBJECTIVE To study the correlation between insulin resistance and serum lipid profile in Indian women with PCOS. SETTING Gynecology clinic...
